in this training video i am going to show you how to change the general settings in woocommerce. to do so, click on settings under woocommerce, you'll notice the first tab selected is the general settings. under the general options we'll be able to change the location, currency and the allowed countries. we are located in atlanta, ga so under united states, i'll select my state. under "currency" i'll choose dollars, and under "allowed countries" i'll select united states. under cart, checkout and accounts, there are four sections here. under "coupons", i'm going to leave the box selected, because i'd like to offer my buyers some incentives to purchase products from my site. we're going to go into more detail about coupons and how it works in future videos, but for now go ahead and leave it as default. under "checkout" there are a couple of options here: the first one is "enable guest checkout, and that means that whoever buys from your site, they don't have to create an account for your site. the second option is "enable customer note field on checkout", this gives people an option to leave a note or specific instructions about the order of the item. the third one is "force secured checkout". in order to use that option, be sure to order an ssl certificate from your hosting provider. but we'll go into more detail about that in a future video. personally i don't want people to check out on my site as a guest, so i'll uncheck this box. now under registration, make sure that you have the first option selected "allow registration on the checkout page". if you turned off the "guest check" make sure to leave this box selected so that there won't be problems in the future. "allow registration on the "my account page", i leave that empty. "register using the email address for the username", i believe makes it easier for the user to remember their logins, so i'll select that box. under the fourth option "customer accounts", make sure you select the first option "prevent customers from accessing wordpress admin". this is important because you don't want anyone to login, even though they will not have access to entire wordpress dashboard settings. it's just good to keep people separated from your dashboard area. i also like to check the box that says "clear cart when logging out" and i'm going to also "allow customers to repurchase orders from the account page". what that means is if someone buys from you for the first time, ad they come back and login to their account, it's going to show their past purchases and they may want to buy another item a second time. i'm going to pause their for now. we just covered the "general" options, including: base location, currency, allowed countries. as well as the "carts, checkout and accounts" options. in the next video we are going to talk about "styles and scripts" and the "downloadable products". thank you for watching and stay tuned for more woocommerce training videos.
